E-Life

Trailer for the feature environmental documentary about the growing crisis around electronic waste, E-Life

Computers, mobile phones, screens and tablets have become an intrinsic part of our daily lives revolutionising the way we interact, communicate and view the world. Keeping up with the latest models and lifestyle products has firmly positioned us consumers as the driving force behind a runaway cycle of technological advancement. But how sustainable is this growth? How finite are the resources that go into these electronics?

From container ports in the US, to the organisations in the UK rethinking the way we manufacture things, to the developing technology markets of Ghana, E-LIFE will investigate the value within the average computer, the recycling and disposal processes involved in extracting that value and, just how long we can continue to manufacture without a product's end of life in mind.

Update: E-LIFE, through its distributor Espresso Media, has sold to 7 different territories so far.

06Charity Doc

Man vs Machine - Charity Truck Pull

This short documentary was originally conceived as a promotional piece for V2 Fitness, but became something more, as the personal story of Salvatore Bruno became apparent - his strength and struggle surrounding the event itself and honouring the memory of his late father.

Beginning with the 'simple' task of pulling a truck weighing 4 tonnes over 25 metres, Bruno then added a car to the back to make 5 tonnes, which he pulled a further 25 metres. Not satisfied, and wanting to push himself, he then added spectators to the back of the truck for a combined weight of over 6 tonnes, which he then pulled another 25 metres, a weight and a distance he had never tried before.

This fly-on-the-wall documentary aimed to capture the emotion and support of the charity event, which raised £1586 for the British Heart Foundation

Snowdon and Bailey talk to Vogue's Mike Trow and Robin Muir

Legendary fashion photographers David Bailey and Anthony Armstrong-Jones, A.K.A Earl of Snowdon, sit down with British Vogue's Mike Trow and Robin Muir to reminisce about their decorated careers.

Unfortunately, due to certain limitations in the location when filming, there were numerous issues with reflections of lights and equipment being visible in shot. Appalachia: From Mountaintops to Moonscapes

UPDATE - This documentary was nominated for the 'Moving Image' award at the AOP Awards 2016

A small documentary video that is made up of interviews that are set to still photography of the Appalachia region

Appalachia is the poorest region of the United States, earning the region the nickname, "America's Colony," while the giant coal companies have earned the nickname, "King Coal."

King Coal has extracted the coal by using some of the most ruthless methods in what has been called, "Capitalism's Dark Side." Today, the coal companies have found an even better way to extract the coal, just blow up the mountains without a care for reclamation.

This documentary describes the socio-economic costs of Mountaintop removal.

The Oil Sands: Dirty Maple Leaf

The first video in a documentary series regarding the Oil Sands in Alberta, Canada

What is the true cost of the dirtiest and most expensive form of oil?

When people think of the tar sands, they think of the draglines and pits of Fort McMurray.

The Tar sands spreads across Northern Alberta, encompassing agricultural and wilderness areas.

The Three Creeks area in the Peace River country is an agricultural area where the residents are becoming ill and the wildlife is leaving. It is all due to the fast expanding CHOPS (cold heavy oil production with oil) production in the area.

Residents are leaving their farms as the emissions are making them too ill to work while the animals, wild or domestic, are not reproducing and if they do, their offspring are being born with defects and calves take longer to grow to the desired weight for market, costing the farmer too many dollars and cents to stay competitive.

Other residents have had to leave their homes or farms as the emissions, causing headaches, memory loss and vomiting making it too hard to live in their land.

Taking interviews conducted between 2010 & 2012, this video is made up of interviews set to still photography taken at Oil Sands sites, and of the land of those affected.

However there is more to this subject than meets the eye, which is being explored in the upcoming: Oil Sands: Curse or Blessing
